In one of the wildest races of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season, AJ Allmendinger steered through the late-race drama to pick up the victory on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Driving the No. 16 Hyperice Chevrolet Camaro, Allmendinger was battling near the front of the field on an Overtime restart when leaders ahead of him made contact. Allmendinger made his way through the incident unscathed and inherited the lead that he would not relinquish in the race’s final lap. The victory was Allmendinger’s second of his NASCAR Cup Series career and first since 2014. It was also the first series win for the Kaulig Racing team.
